Our commitment to accessibility

Terra del Carmine (Azienda Agricola di Jeremy Sinclair) is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually work to improve the user experience for everyone and to apply the relevant accessibility standards.

 

Conformance status

This website is substantially conformant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, which is the standard referenced by the European Accessibility Act (Directive EU 2019/882).

“Substantially conformant” means that the large majority of the content meets the accessibility standard. Where minor limitations exist, we have applied compensating measures and continue to monitor the site.

What we have implemented

The following accessibility measures are in place across the website:

• Descriptive alternative text (alt text) on all product images throughout the shop and individual product pages
• Unique accessible labels (aria-label) on all interactive buttons, identifying the specific product each button refers to
• Accessible labels on the shopping basket link, language switcher, and all social media links (Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, Google Maps)
• External links include rel=”noopener noreferrer” and indicate when they open in a new window
• Background videos on the homepage are decorative and marked with aria-hidden=”true”, so they are correctly ignored by assistive technologies
• Correct heading hierarchy (H1, H2, H3) maintained across all pages
• “Skip to content” link present on every page for keyboard users
• Logical reading and navigation order throughout the site
• Colour contrast verified: dark text is only ever used on light backgrounds, and light text only on dark or image backgrounds
• The site is fully bilingual (EN/IT) with correct hreflang and lang attributes

Assessment approach

Terra del Carmine assessed the accessibility of this website through:

• Structural HTML analysis of the Home, Shop, individual product pages, and Contact pages
• Review against WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria
• Verification of all remediation applied via WordPress, WooCommerce, Elementor Pro, and Code Snippets

We intend to commission a periodic independent accessibility review by a qualified specialist to maintain and improve our level of conformance as the site evolves.
